Why install PlexSub?

One control centre for your service

PlexSub brings together work that is normally spread across many tools: users, subscriptions, access, requests, downloads, history and usage, support, notifications, and media-service integrations.

Less manual work

Without PlexSub, common questions often become manual messages: Do I have access?, Has my subscription renewed?, Why does Plex not work?, Was my request accepted?, or Where is my download? PlexSub can make those answers available in the Customer Portal or an admin view.

A better customer experience

The Customer Portal lets users review their account status, requests, downloads, usage, support, and—when enabled—guides or Knowledge Base content without asking everything in chat.

Better control for administrators

Administrators gain a central integration view, service diagnostics, control over pausable modules, subscription tracking, more organised support, and less dependence on spreadsheets or manual notes.

Integrations without mixing responsibilities

PlexSub does not attempt to replace every tool. It works with Plex, Jellyfin, or Emby for media; Overseerr/Jellyseerr or native Requests for requests; Arr services for library automation; qBittorrent, Transmission, or Deluge for downloads; Bazarr for subtitles; analytics providers such as Tautulli, Tracearr, or Jellystat; and SMTP/notification providers for notices.

Clearer failures

Per-integration diagnostics help separate a PlexSub issue from a Plex, proxy, billing, SMTP, or qBittorrent issue. That separation reduces support time.

Controlled publishing

The Docker template includes resource limits, container security, separate volumes, PostgreSQL, rotated logs, and read-only application options. It is a sound starting point, not a replacement for responsible server administration.

When it may not be worth it

PlexSub may not be needed when you have only one or two users, do not use subscriptions or a Customer Portal, do not want to maintain Docker/backups/domains, or prefer fully manual management.

When it adds the most value

It is most useful when you manage several users, renewals, many requests, multiple integrations, organised support, and a clear separation between admin and customer experiences.
